Every thing started with a fed up.

I was tired to see everyone talking about perfect girls every day on my Instagram’s timeline while all they could do was putting make up on their faces. No, I wanted to see something different, I wanted to see natural girls, brilliant girls, intelligent girls, who have something to tell and I wanted to identify myself to them : this is why I started the #VRAIESMEUFS movement. (Vraies Meufs in French means real girls. “Meufs” is a slang word that means girls.)

So I decided to meet different girls and to take photos of them without any make up on. We meet in a place of her choice (her favorite shop, at her’s, in her neighbourhood…) and share her stories with me or talk about subjects that affects her. Nothing is prepared, everything is improvised : non of the girls has make up on, half from the photos failed, but I don’t give a fuck cause I’m not a photograph or a journalist and we’re not on Vogue.

Established in 2016, VRAIESMEUFS is a platform that celebrates all women, without any selection criteria, through intimate portraits and photos. At a time when body positivity was not yet in the spotlight and inclusivity was not in vogue, Vraies Meufs carved out a niche against the current of social media content, featuring unretouched photos without makeup and without adhering to the rules of traditional media. The idea was to address the question of what it means to be a woman today: what does our daily life look like? What do we think about in our individuality and plurality? How can we journey together towards new things? The portraits capture a moment in a woman's life, the moment when she is most "real" during her day. Because there is no duality of true/false: all women are true women, it's more about a state than an individual.

Today, the platform has expanded into various formats through events, exhibitions, a sports club, and a documentary. The objective remains the same: to create a space for all women, to help them rise and feel understood, to feel like they have a place somewhere, and to highlight diverse life journeys.
